About Labradoodles - Early Spay/Neuter
Prepubertal spay/neuter is part of an overall attempt to help reduce pet overpopulation and to be sure these wonderful dogs do not end up in puppy mills or with "backyard breeders." An early spay/neuter program is recommended by the AKC, animal shelters and many veterinarians. Many breed clubs now mandate this, as the Australian Labradoodles Founders Alliance does. As the number of pets in shelters continue to rise it is more important now than ever to conscientiously try to reduce this number. For people who are unable or do not want to adopt their new family member from a shelter, they can feel good about not contributing further to the problem with an early spay/neuter for their dog.
We at Unkety Brook spay/neuter all our puppies and dogs prior to them leaving us. We do sell intact breeding dogs to conscientious breeders (no kennels).
